Good day, and welcome to Bus Stop - a small talk message board. Each post remains on the site for only a day, after which, it disappears. Registration is not required, and small media files can be uploaded along with each post.

If you find this place empty, it doesn't necessarily mean that it's completely abandoned. Feel free to make a post to start a discussion, perhaps someone will see it and reply!

Bus Stop is intended to be a stress free environment for talking with strangers. Try to keep a relaxed demeanor when posting, please don't say or upload anything that might ruin the other person's day.
I hope we meet again.

Bus Stop uses an extended version of WakabaMark markup code for post formatting.
The basic features are as follows:
  • Surround text with * or _ to make it italic. _Like this_ or *like this*.
  • Surround text with ** or __ to make it bold.
  • Surround text with %% to make a spoiler
  • Make an unordered HTML list by beginning each line with *, or -. You can add line breaks in list entries by breaking the line and indenting the next line with one or more spaces.
  • Make ordered HTML lists by beginning the first line with "1."
  • Make quote sections by beginning each line with ">". Highlighting text and then clicking the post number will quote the selected text.
  • Make code sections by indenting each line by four spaces or one tab. Code sections get shown in a monospaced font, and are not otherwise formatted.
  • Make external links by just typing the URL you want to link to. Post references like >>0 can be created by clicking the post's number and are automatically turned into links. You can link posts from other boards like this >>>/test/#0. The first youtube link in the post gets embedded, unless the post has a file attachment.
If you want to make a large post with complex formatting you can test if everything looks right here.

Please fill the subject field with clearly defined topic when it's appropriate. It not only allows to browse this site like a regular image board by filtering the posts with the same subject, but also serves another purpose. Subjects have a longer lifetime than posts, it means that even when subject's thread is empty, it stays in the list for several days since the last post. In case this board is empty, this should help a new user or a person who hasn't visited the site for a long time to understand what kind of things were being discussed recently.

SJIS art can be displayed without any special formatting, as required proportional font is used on Bus Stop by default.
Bus Stop supports uploading of the following file types:
  • Images: jpg, png, gif.
  • Video: mp4, webm.
  • Audio: mp3
The maximum file size is 16MB.
EXIF data is stripped out from the images automatically.
The board's look can be customized from the options menu, which is accessible by clicking [+] in the bottom right corner of the sidebar. Available options are as follows:
  • [theme]: switches the visual style of the site.
  • [Mona]: enables the Mona font. If your browser has problems with rendering it, turn it off to use a system font.
  • [⟳]: enables auto reloading of the page each 90 seconds.
  • [?]: controls visibility of the info post.
Options are stored in your browser's cookies, be sure to enable them, if you want to save your settings.

Bus Stop is also available through this URL vip.bus-stop.net
This is the JavaScript-free mirror of the site, so if you like, you can use it to browse the scriptless version of Bus Stop without disabling JavaScript in your browser.
Please note, that you need to solve a captcha to make posts with disabled JavaScript.

User submitted themes are placed on different subdomains as well:

PERSONAL DATA USAGE
Bus Stop's page doesn't send any info to the server, besides your posts data and captcha id and answer when it's enabled. Some of the features like customization options require to have cookies enabled, but only to use your browser's local storage, without actually filling the cookies headers.
Our JavaScript code doesn't make any requests and isn't mandatory for the site's core functionality.
HTTP server's access logs are disabled. Bus Stop has a statistic system that counts unique posters and visitors by storing checksums of IP addresses in database. Internal logs contain IP addresses together with posts content in plain text for moderation purposes, such logs are stored on the server for 3 days, they aren't shared with anyone and Bus Stop's maintainer uses them very infrequently.

TECHNOLOGY
Bus Stop is built using the following open source projects:
Qt framework, libfcgi, cgicc, ClearSilver, SQLite3, Phantom Qt, QtCaptcha, spdlog, jQuery, Normalize.css
It runs with help of Nginx web server and uses FFmpeg, ImageMagick and ExifTool for media uploads processing.

It's mainly because this board is sorta an alternative to social media. Most imageboards are. I think I ended up finding this place through Yesterweb too before that died so people here are the type to actively look for alternatives and complain about the current state of things.

lurking in places i tend to find lots of people complaining about the current state of the internet.. and im not really sure theres an alternative to "look" for. i think all of this dissatisfaction has to eventually fuel the creation of something entirely new

anyways, to keep this on topic

every other post

It's all me. I wanted to rant, yeah.

If I had a choice to avoid mainstream social media, I definitely will, but I can't do anything about the fact that people still use it. I still have to go to youtube to watch popular videos, and I still have to go to reddit to find something that resembles a forum in current year, and I still have to go to twitter to find a community that talks about this niche thing that's going on in my city, and I hate it.

Nothing new comes out of all this dissatisfaction. Users just adapt to it. More ads on youtube? Just add a few commands on ad blockers. New reddit layout? No choice but to accept.

Yes.

>>16608
It used to be more focused on random disconnected discourse.
The passangers changed as new buses arrived.

quite good

the muffled effect is a nice touch in this one

i mean i definitely understand the dissatisfaction behind it. the internet has definitely declined in quality over time when it (mainly) comes to things relating to entertainment and hobbies, but it's not really healthy to put much energy into this topic in specific. like the other guy said, best thing to do is to just move on and redirect your focus towards things that actually make your life better

and posting more music

this is all just from the bedroom skramz scene but otherwise i find most of my music thru scouring bandcamp and talking to people on soulseek. i dont use spotify much anymore but its surprisingly good at recommending niche artists + im also really into my local scene as well

another poster but i would like to add that soundcloud autoplays the most obscure shit sometimes and most underground artists post their stuff for free there.

Do people actually talk much on Soulseek? How do you start up in that community?

I've tried to get into it but didn't fully understand how it worked. Like whether it was actually truly community-oriented or just an old P2P service that had a dying social network attached to it.
